Site Evolution

Ten snapshots of danielcorin.com from 2018 to 2026 — a visual timeline of how a personal site grows, rebrands, and finds its shape over eight years.

Historical snapshots retrieved from the Wayback Machine. The final image is the live site as of January 2026.

The Beginning
2018-08-20 "Way Enough Coding"
danielcorin.com in August 2018
  • The earliest capture. Two dark placeholder cards on white — a site that exists but hasn't become anything yet.
  • No navigation, no posts, no identity beyond the name.
The Hugo Blog — 2021–2022
2021-06-18 "Way Enough Code" rebrand
danielcorin.com in June 2021
  • Name shortened to "Way Enough Code." Now a real Hugo blog with posts, navigation (About, Posts, Tags), and social links.
  • Completely unstyled — raw HTML with the browser's defaults. The content arrived before the design.
2022-01-09 Holding steady
danielcorin.com in January 2022
  • Six months later, identical. Same posts, same layout, same lack of styling.
  • Sometimes a site just sits. The writing happened elsewhere.
The Dark Era — 2023
2023-02-22 "Way Enough" rebrand redesign
danielcorin.com in February 2023
  • Dramatic overhaul. Name shortened again to just "Way Enough." Dark background, the Poison Hugo theme, a dark mode toggle.
  • The site found a visual identity — moody, developer-focused, serious about its aesthetic.
2023-06-09 Logs appear
danielcorin.com in June 2023
  • Navigation grows: Posts, Logs, About. The "Logs" section signals a shift toward shorter-form writing.
  • New content about caching at scale and protobuf contracts with LLMs — the AI era begins.
  • Author attribution ("Dan Corin") now in the footer.
The Digital Garden — 2024
2024-01-16 Garden, TIL, Projects, Now expansion
danielcorin.com in January 2024
  • The navigation explodes: Posts, Today I Learned, Logs, Garden, Now, Projects, About — each with emoji prefixes.
  • No longer just a blog. This is a digital garden — multiple content types, multiple rhythms of writing.
  • Posts now about fine-tuning GPT and keyboard automation.
2024-07-03 Uses page, collapsible menu
danielcorin.com in July 2024
  • "Uses" page added — a developer site tradition. Menu gets a hamburger toggle as the nav outgrows its space.
  • Content: multi-modal models with Ollama, "Claude 3.5 Sonnet Codes Really Well."
2024-12-23 Search, Bluesky features
danielcorin.com in December 2024
  • Search added to navigation. Bluesky joins the social links — the fediverse migration begins.
  • The site is now infrastructure-aware: a post about Hugo social image previews shows someone actively tending the garden.
The Rebrand — 2025–2026
2025-06-19 Feeds section
danielcorin.com in June 2025
  • "Feeds" appears in navigation — the site becomes a node in a wider network.
  • Content turns reflective: "Who Finds LLMs Useful and Why" — two years of experience distilled.
2026-01-29 "Thought Eddies" rebrand redesign
danielcorin.com in January 2026
  • Complete transformation. "Way Enough" becomes "Thought Eddies" — a name that captures the nature of the writing rather than its scope.
  • Light theme, card-based layout, serif typography, warm palette. From dark developer blog to something that feels like a reading room.
  • Clean horizontal nav, category pill badges, proper visual hierarchy. Eight years of iteration distilled into confidence.

The Arc

Every personal site is an act of self-description — and the description keeps changing. The name alone tells the story: "Way Enough Coding" (what I do) became "Way Enough Code" (what I make) became "Way Enough" (enough of what?) became "Thought Eddies" (how I think).

The structure tells another story. A blog became a garden became a network node. Posts gave way to TILs, Logs, a Garden, a Now page, Feeds — different containers for different rhythms of thought. The site learned that not everything is a post.

2018 Placeholder cards. The site exists but has nothing to say yet. 2021 Content arrives before design. Unstyled Hugo blog with real posts. 2023 Visual identity found. Dark theme, the Poison era begins. 2024 Blog becomes garden. Seven content types, emoji nav, search. 2026 "Thought Eddies." New name, light theme, card layout. The site knows what it is.
