Darkwaves

Marine darkwaves: sudden episodes of underwater darkness lasting days to months. Light attenuates exponentially with depth (Beer-Lambert law). Sediment plumes from storms and rivers increase turbidity, pushing benthic light below survival thresholds for kelp and seagrass.
